Camels used for tourist rides endure lives filled with suffering. PETA Asia investigations in Egypt and Morocco have documented camels being viciously beaten, restrained, denied adequate food, water, and veterinary care, forced to work through exhaustion and extreme heat, and killed for their flesh when they're no longer considered profitable for tourism. A new PETA exposé shows that nothing has changed for these animals.
Camels are intelligent, social individuals who form long-lasting relationships and recognize friends even after decades apart. They experience love, fear, pain, and joy, just as we do. Yet in the tourism industry, they’re treated as commodities and reduced to photo props. Whether the rides take place in Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, the UAE, or elsewhere, they suffer the same.
More than 30 travel companies have confirmed that they don’t offer camel rides anywhere in the world. Yet GetYourGuide and On The Go Tours continue to promote and profit from this cruel industry. Please send a polite message urging these travel companies to stop promoting camel rides worldwide.
