Join Me in Asking the Indonesia Government to Close the Surabaya Zoo
At the Surabaya Zoo, a giraffe named Kliwon died after swallowing nearly 20 kilograms of litter that had been thrown into his pen. Rozek, a 13-year-old Sumatran tiger, starved to death after his digestive tract rotted away from being fed meat laced with formaldehyde. Weather-related conditions were blamed for the death of a wildebeest and a young orangutan named Betty. Recently, Michael the lion was found dead, hanging from wires used to open the door of his cage. These are just a small fraction of the animals who have suffered and died at the hands of this decrepit facility. A former member of the zoo's management estimates that 50 animals have died in just the last three months. While it's too late for many animals, hundreds more are enduring what can only be called hell on Earth every day. Please tell Indonesian officials to close the Surabaya Zoo!
