Each July at the San Fermín festival in Pamplona, Spain, a spectacle of torment known as the Running of the Bulls takes place. Will you help stop it?
Every summer, young bulls who have had very little contact with humans are transported to Pamplona on a long and stressful journey. The San Fermín organizers confine them to a small pen for several days. Then they release them into a noisy, chaotic mob of people—many of whom are tourists—who chase the terrified animals through the narrow streets of the city. The bulls often crash into walls or lose their footing, sometimes breaking bones.
And that's not the end of it. Later that day, they're tormented and killed in the bullring. At least 60 bulls are barbarically stabbed to death during the week of bloodshed.
PETA is calling for an end to the bull runs and bullfights and asking that they be replaced with a humane alternative so that people can enjoy the usual revelry with none of the cruelty to animals.
Please take action to urge the mayor of Pamplona to end the Running of the Bulls and subsequent bullfights during the San Fermín festival.
