It's been years since the release of the documentary Blackfish —whose subject, Tilikum, died after 33 years in a concrete tank—but orcas at SeaWorld are still swimming in endless circles and breaking their teeth by gnawing in frustration on the concrete corners and metal bars of the cramped tanks in which they're imprisoned. And other dolphins and whales are still being impregnated, sometimes forcibly after being drugged.
Dozens of companies—including Booking.com, British Airways, Southwest Airlines, TripAdvisor, Virgin Holidays, and WestJet—have severed ties with SeaWorld. Yet AAA and some of its member clubs continue to promote the cruel company. Many individual AAA clubs—including Arizona, Northern California, Colorado, Minneapolis, MountainWest, Nevada, Northeast, Utah, and Washington—have made the compassionate decision not to sell SeaWorld tickets. It's time the national organization followed suit.
AAA says feedback from its members and the public is its most valuable source of information, so we need your help to let the organization know it's wrong to promote an abusement park such as SeaWorld, which deprives emotionally complex, social animals of everything that's natural and important to them.
Please ask the motor club to do the right thing and stop selling tickets to SeaWorld. If you're a AAA member, please add that information to the message below and remind the company that animal abuse is a very serious issue to you.
