Urge Long John Silver’s and Captain D’s to Sell Vegan Fish!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Update: October 5, 2021
Thank you to everyone who went out and supported the vegan seafood options at Long John Silver’s! Because of you, the trial was a huge success—and there’s potential for the options to be expanded nationwide.

We hope that soon enough, the crabless cakes and vegan fish fillets will be put on the menu for good, so please continue to urge Long John Silver’s to add the options permanently nationwide!

Update: July 20, 2021
Exciting news! Following years of pressure from PETA and after hearing from over 35,000 kind supporters like you, Long John Silver’s is now testing vegan seafood at five locations in California and Georgia. The new options—vegan fish fillets and crabless cakes—are made by fish-free seafood brand Good Catch. They’ll be available for a limited time at the locations below.

If you live near one of these Long John Silver’s locations, please go out and show your support:

  • 3801 Ming Ave., Bakersfield, California
  • 406 W. Shaw Ave., Clovis, California
  • 7228 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, California
  • 1805 N. Slappey Blvd., Albany, Georgia
  • 52 Bullsboro Dr., Newnan, Georgia (near Atlanta)

We hope this is just the first step in getting these vegan options added to menus nationwide, so please let Long John Silver’s know that you’re eager to try them! Thanks for helping to net a win for fish and crabs.

Original post:

Vegan options are turning up at restaurant chains across the country—from vegan burgers at Carl’s Jr. and Burger King to vegan chicken and beef tacos at El Pollo Loco and Del Taco to vegan ice cream at Dairy Queen and Baskin-Robbins. Yet Captain D’s still isn’t offering vegan fish or other animal-free seafood. Long John Silver’s recently took a step forward and added fish-free fish to five locations temporarily, and the trial was a huge success!

More fish are killed for food each year than all other animals combined. Without any legal protection from cruel treatment, these intelligent, complex animals are impaled, crushed, suffocated, or cut open and gutted, all while they’re fully conscious. On aquafarms, thousands of fish are confined to filthy, cramped net or mesh enclosures. The fish in such operations may suffer from parasitic infections, diseases, and debilitating injuries.

Fish, lobsters, crabs, and other sea animals are complex beings who feel pain and fear and just want to be left alone to form relationships, care for their young, and live as they please. Delicious vegan seafood already exists—for example, Gardein’s Golden Fishless Filets and Crabless Cakes, Plant Based Seafood Co.’s vegan shrimp, and so much more. It would be easy for Long John Silver’s and Captain D’s to add vegan seafood to their menus permanently and appeal to the millions of people looking for humane food options.
