PETA has shown its love for Vans through numerous awards over the years for its animal-friendly offerings. But it's time for the brand to take it all the way—especially since it claims to represent forward-thinking youth culture and individuality.

In fact, this makes the company a prime candidate to offer exclusively vegan leather and vegan wool products. Today, three out of four millennials—more than any other generation—are driven by their values and are willing to pay more for humane, sustainable products. They're seeking a "brand experience" that reflects their individuality—and they're looking to brands such as Vans to give it to them.

Every animal exploited in the clothing trade is an individual who doesn't want to suffer and die to become a pair of sneakers or trim on a snapback. Cows used for their skins are routinely subjected to mutilations, such as castration, and hot-iron branding—all without any pain relief—and many are dismembered and skinned while still conscious. And sheep used for their wool are beaten, kicked, and stomped on in shearing sheds around the globe.

I'm a Vans fan, but it's time to go vegan.

Today, the number of conscious consumers is growing in size and power, and we want ethical, sustainable offerings. . You already sell so many animal-friendly products—why not be truly forward thinking and representative of youth culture by dropping all animal-derived materials?

We know that the billions of animals exploited for the fashion industry every year are individuals, too. And we know they don't want to suffer and die to become a pair of sneakers or trim on a snapback.

Please allow Vans fans like me to cultivate a life based on our values. Help stop animal suffering—go vegan!
