Animal dissection is cruel, archaic, and pointless. It also teaches students that animals are nothing more than classroom tools to be used and discarded—a very dangerous lesson, especially today, when bullying has reached epidemic proportions. Studies show that students learn better when using modern, humane alternatives, such as interactive virtual-dissection software. These methods are also safer and less costly than dissection and offer better preparation for careers in science and medicine.
