I just watched PETA Asia’s investigation into Responsible Down Standard (RDS)–certified goose farms, and I was truly disappointed to learn that lululemon continues to sell cruelly obtained down and defends its actions by touting this so-called “responsible” standard, which doesn’t put a stop to animal suffering.

The footage shows these loyal, protective birds shrieking in terror as their necks are stretched across a stump and struck repeatedly with an axe without stunning or pain relief—a direct violation of the RDS. A worker is heard laughing after finishing his bloody business and tossing the bodies aside. The birds’ wings and feet twitch in the snow afterward.

A down broker told the investigators that any feathers bought from the region that the farm is located in are considered RDS-certified. This was news to the farmer, who, despite the broker’s claims, said her farm was not certified. However, the broker said that the farmer’s down would still be considered RDS-certified if bought through him—and did not say that the farmer would have to change any practices.

This sham certification process highlights the complete ineffectiveness and lack of transparency of the RDS. “Standards” fail to protect birds, and no down jacket is worth so much pain and suffering. Please show the world that lululemon cares about animals by banning down.
