Urge Texas Town to Stop Its Annual Deer Killing!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Yet again this year, deer in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, are slated to be baited, trapped, and trucked to slaughter in a misguided attempt to reduce the local population. As evidenced by this repeat initiative, which has been enacted for an astounding 10 years, lethal measures against wildlife actually backfire, because when animals are killed, the resultant spike in the food supply prompts survivors and the inevitable newcomers to breed at accelerated rates. Harrowing footage of a similar initiative, captured in a nearby community several years ago, shows the horrors that await deer who are lured into traps, netted, pinned to the ground (adding to bucks’ trauma, their antlers are cut off with a power saw), hauled upside down into a trailer, and then transported for hours before ultimately being shot and killed. PETA previously apprised city officials of the futility and cruelty of this approach, but local voices are needed.

Using the form below, please urge officials to ditch lethal methods and implement humane and effective deer-control measures instead—then forward this alert to everyone you know.
