Horses Exported by Air for Slaughter: Act Now to Get This Banned!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Your voice is needed now to help get the Canada-to-Japan horse slaughter pipeline shut down! Legislation that would prohibit shipping horses via air to be killed in other countries has passed the House of Commons and is now with the Senate—which needs to hear from you right away.

Every year, thousands of horses are packed into transport crates in Canada and then sent on harrowing flights to Japan to be slaughtered for food.

PETA went inside Japan’s largest horse slaughterhouse and captured footage of the horrifying final minutes of the life of a horse formerly used for racing. Our undercover investigators watched as he was doused with water before being moved onto the kill floor. The terrified horse panicked, slipping out of his halter and escaping, only to be caught—and killed—minutes later.

An exposé by Canada’s Global News shows that live horses are crammed into wooden shipping crates before being loaded onto cargo planes destined for Japan. They’re often deprived of food and water and packed so tightly that they’re unable to stand naturally for the duration of the flight. Some of these horses may come from the U.S.

Join us in taking action to end this cruelty. Bill C-355 has already passed the House of Commons and now just needs to pass the Senate to become law. Please use the form below to urge your senators to pass Bill C-355—which would prohibit the export of horses by air for slaughter.
