These Travel Companies Are Endorsing Animal Abuse at Egypt’s Pyramids—Act Now!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Tourists travel to the Giza pyramids to learn about their fascinating history and marvel at their architecture. What they don’t expect to see are malnourished and exhausted animals forced to give rides in the blazing sun without appropriate shade, rest, or adequate veterinary care. There are travel companies that continue to promote these cruel rides, and we need your help to urge them to stop.

PETA Asia investigators found that horses were routinely whipped, suffering from injuries, and trying to stay alive by eating trash from dumps, while many of the camels had painful wounds and mange. Investigators also found the bodies of dead horses and camels dumped daily in piles of trash just steps away from the pyramids.

At the Birqash Camel Market, where camels are often sold to be used for tourist rides or as photo props, investigators found camels with blood pouring down their faces. Their legs were bent and tied with rope, and traders pushed, punched, and beat the animals with batons. When camels could no longer give rides, they were hauled to the slaughterhouse and killed for their flesh.

Although top travel companies across the country are dropping animal rides and cutting ties with cruelty to horses and camels, businesses such as Vaya Adventures, World Travel Holdings and AAA Mid States continue to endorse these shameful activities.

Please act now to urge these companies to stop promoting animal rides at Egypt’s pyramids and other tourist sites!
