Bullfighting is an antiquated display of violence and cruelty from a time when humans had far less understanding of animals and their needs. Bullfighting is not “culture” or “tradition.” It’s torture. These intelligent, sensitive beings are forced into a nightmarish spectacle of terror and pain before they’re viciously killed—all for the fleeting amusement of the audience.

Most Mexican citizens agree: bullfighting is cruelty and must be banned. This brutal spectacle violates Article 4 of the Mexican Constitution—which protects animals from abuse—as well as Mexican Norm NOM-033 and the Federal Animal Health Law, as multiple federal courts have affirmed. Yet bullfights are set to resume in Guadalajara on October 10. Mayor Verónica Delgadillo has both the power and the duty to stop these bloody events, in line with her oath to uphold the Constitution and its laws.
Please urge Mayor Verónica Delgadillo to ban bullfighting in Guadalajara.
