Urge The City of Mobile, AL to Nix Beaver Massacre!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Reportedly, Mobile, Alabama city officials are targeting the local beaver population. The city has apparently been embroiled in this killing cycle for years, with plans to deploy traps at 23 locations this year. The pest control company reportedly hired by the city apparently claims to kill a staggering 300 to 400 beavers each year. Killing or otherwise removing beavers is ineffective and the medieval devices typically used to capture and kill them—Conibear traps—cause immense suffering, slowly crushing or drowning their victims to death. Steel-jaw traps and snares are among other traps commonly used, and they leave victims to struggle for prolonged periods until drowning or suffocating. All of these traps are indiscriminate, posing risks to “non-target” victims as well.

PETA has apprised city officials of the cruelty and futility of their plan and provided details regarding effective and humane beaver control tips, but to no avail, as our urgent pleas have gone entirely unanswered. Now it’s your turn! Please use the form below to urge Mobile city officials to scrap the effort to kill these wild animals, who are simply trying to make their way, and instead focus on humane measures that are tried and true.
