Deer in Arlington urgently need your help to oppose an imminent lethal management program. Arlington County is preparing to hire professional sharpshooters to cruelly and unnecessarily “manage” the local deer population. This unethical decision threatens the survival of Arlington’s native deer and will disrupt the balance of our ecosystem.

Lethal deer removal methods, such as sharpshooting, are inhumane and ineffective in the long term. Deer populations quickly rebound, leading to a cycle of killing without addressing the underlying causes of deer-human conflicts. Deer in Arlington deserve the freedom to live safely in their natural habitat. We possess the science-based methods and innovative tools to implement humane strategies that promote coexistence with deer and maintain forest health.
Please insist that the Arlington County Board and the Parks and Natural Resources Division adopt science-based, non-lethal strategies that reflect Arlington’s values and promote peaceful coexistence. Urge them to repeal their amendments to the Firearms Ordinance and the Miscellaneous Offenses and Provisions of the Arlington County Code and implement a non-lethal program that protects all life.
