Bullfighting is a grotesque display of animal abuse that kills thousands of bulls every year, yet online ticket marketplace StubHub is profiting from the resale of tickets to these archaic bloodbaths. Please help bulls by urging StubHub North America to stop cashing in on cruelty and end all bullfighting ticket sales worldwide.
During these events, sensitive, intelligent bulls are taunted, chased, and stabbed repeatedly with a lance and harpoon-like weapons. As the bull weakens from blood loss, the matador—literally “killer”—drives a sword or knife into his body. As the bull collapses in agony in a pool of his blood, screaming crowds praise the matador, who may cut off the dying bull’s ears or tail as a trophy—sometimes while the animal is still conscious.
Public opposition to bullfighting is at an all-time high: Eight in 10 Spaniards oppose it, hundreds of municipalities in Spain have declared themselves against it, and Colombia recently passed a nationwide ban. Most major U.S. companies have rejected bloodsports like bullfighting, including Airbnb, Expedia, Booking.com, and Tripadvisor. Bullfighting activities would be illegal if held in the U.S., but StubHub North America enables this cruelty by reselling bullfighting tickets in other countries to U.S. customers.
