Urge Friendly’s to Add Vegan Ice Cream to Its Menu

Friendly’s isn’t friendly to those who want vegan ice cream and we need your help to get it! More and more restaurants nationwide embrace delicious vegan varieties that customers love and those who don’t want to support an industry built on cruelty.

Cows used for dairy endure repeated forced impregnation to produce milk meant for their beloved babies, who are ripped from them just hours after birth. After their calves have been taken away from them, they are hooked up to milk machines multiple times per day. Once milk production declines, they are slaughtered. There is nothing “friendly” about this cycle of abuse.

By adding vegan ice cream to its menu, Friendly’s can offer the indulgent desserts people love without the suffering. Delicious, rich, creamy vegan options already exist in abundance, and major chains across the country have embraced them with enormous success.

I’m disappointed to hear that Friendly’s offers no vegan ice cream. As a “family restaurant” that proudly uses the tagline “Family, Friends and Frozen Treats,” adding dairy-free options would make your menu more inclusive for the many families who can’t—or choose not to—consume dairy, and may turn to a competitor that has options for everyone.

A growing number of customers are seeking treats that don’t come from intelligent, sensitive cows who endure repeated forced pregnancies, heartbreaking separation from their calves, and other cruel industry-standard practices. Vegan ice cream would give people who want to avoid these issues a way to enjoy dessert at Friendly’s without compromising their values.

Vegan options also meet the needs of guests with lactose intolerance and dairy allergies, and they’re better for the environment. With the vegan ice-cream market valued at more than $800 million and projected to nearly double by 2032, it’s clear that demand is strong. Stores and brands like Dairy Queen, Ben & Jerry’s, Bryers, Hagen Daz, Baskin-Robbins and many more already offer vegan ice cream.
