During Alaska’s deadly Iditarod dog-sled race, dogs are forced to run approximately 1,000 miles and are often pushed to continue even when they’re injured or ill, through biting winds, blinding snowstorms, freezing temperatures, and treacherous ice. When the race is over, many are left with lasting ailments, like misshapen hearts, stomach ulcers, persistent lung damage, and orthopedic injuries. Glenfarne Group’s subsidiary Glenfarne Alaska LNG is propping up this cruelty by sponsoring the race.

More than 150 dogs have died in the Iditarod, and innumerable others have suffered and died while chained to dilapidated boxes or barrels outside during the off-season or were killed because they lacked the speed or stamina to make the grade. During the 2025 Iditarod, a young dog named Ventana, who was in late-stage pregnancy, collapsed and died on the trail after she was forced to run hundreds of miles. Dogs want safety and loving companionship, not to be raced to an icy grave.
Please use the form below to urge Glenfarne Group to rethink its support of the deadly Iditarod.
