Urge Alo to Stop Selling Leather, Wool, and Cashmere

Alo sells comfort, calm, and “mindfulness,” but the reality behind the brand is anything but peaceful. The same company known for soft leggings and yoga‑studio vibes is still making money from leather, wool, and cashmere, which are all products of tremendous cruelty and death.

Buying these Alo products means supporting industries where workers beat and electroshock cows before slaughter for leather; kick, punch, and cut sheep during rushed shearing; and pin goats down to rip out their hair for cashmere before killing them when they’re no longer profitable.

These aren’t “materials”—they’re individuals. Cows form lifelong friendships, sheep recognize their friends’ faces, and goats wag their tails when they’re happy. And they are all suffering for Alo’s products right now.

Thankfully, consumers worldwide are rejecting this cruelty. With exciting, eco-friendly vegan materials available made from apples, mushrooms, cactus, hemp, bamboo, cotton, and soybeans, it’s time for companies like Alo to choose compassion and innovation.

I was deeply disappointed to learn that Alo is selling leather, wool, and cashmere. These industries subject cows, sheep, and goats to horrific cruelty. They endure joyless, painful lives, ending in violent slaughter. PETA has released multiple investigative videos revealing how gentle cows are burned, electroshocked, and beaten for leather; sheep are punched, kicked, and cut for wool; and goats are pinned down and bloodied for cashmere. There’s no retirement home for animals used by the fashion industry—they are all slaughtered once they are no longer deemed profitable. Whenever animals are part of a supply chain, their welfare is inevitably compromised in pursuit of profit.

Your company emphasizes mindfulness, but there is nothing mindful about selling leather, wool, or cashmere. It is deeply contradictory to profit from industries built on violence, fear, and suffering. The only true way to meet the values you purport as a brand is to sell only vegan materials.

With innovative, durable, and stylish vegan materials now readily available, there is simply no justification for continuing to support killing animals for fashion. Hundreds of companies have made the switch to vegan clothing options, proving that compassion and innovation go hand in hand.

Please, stop selling leather, wool, and cashmere. Until you do, I will be shopping elsewhere and encouraging others to do the same.
