Urge Georgia Military Base to Nix Coyote Massacre!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Beginning on April 1, army officials at Fort Benning in Georgia plan to start capturing and killing coyotes in response to recent sightings of the species in the area. This grim news comes after the base approved the gunning down of squirrels last year in hopes of permanently reducing their numbers. This nonsensical approach to wildlife "management" would leave any ecologist baffled. Predator and prey populations regulate each other naturally. Plus, killing coyotes will actually backfire because, according to experts, survivors will respond by having larger litters. Also, the devices commonly used—steel-jaw traps and snares—are notoriously inhumane, and desperate victims often sustain horrific injuries in their frantic attempts to escape, even chewing or twisting off their own limbs, while those caught by the neck experience a prolonged, agonizing death via strangulation. Such traps are also indiscriminate, posing definitive risks to companion animals as well as "non-target" wildlife, including protected species.

PETA has apprised Fort Benning officials of the cruelty and futility of this plan and provided details regarding humane coyote and squirrel control—now, it's your turn! Please contact the Fort Benning Garrison Command and politely urge it to scrap plans to kill wild animals, who are simply trying to survive.
